In the peaceful Igbo village of Amachara, a strong and brave warrior named Ikenna was celebrated for his many victories. Ikenna, however, valued something far more precious than his strength—his deep love for Adamma, a kind and beautiful maiden.
Adamma loved Ikenna just as deeply, but their love was forbidden. In keeping with the traditions of African tales and folklore, warriors in their village were bound to marry women from powerful families. Ikenna’s family had already chosen Onuoma, the chief’s daughter, as his bride, deeming Adamma, a farmer’s daughter, unworthy of such a union.
Love, courage, and determination are themes found in many African folktales, and this story is no different. Discover more captivating African stories and explore the rich heritage of historical sites in Nigeria on our YouTube channel, African Tales by Manny.
